The post CAN I LOSE MY SALVATION? appeared first on Dave and Pauline - Worldviews International.
]]>I briefly considered this question in a letter to a dear Christian friend. She wanted my comments on a book which I was unfamiliar with, but weary of, based on some reviews online. Here is my letter:
“You have to be very careful here. It seems that this author may believe that you can lose your salvation. If this is what he believes that is heresy.
My wife Pauline’s conversion from being an Armenian to being a Calvinist was very simple.
“If we have to hold onto God, we can let go, but if he holds on to us, he will never let us go.” She believed this simple truth when she was a young Christian one morning during a worship service.
Or perhaps the author is just talking about the relationship between faith and works.
The Bible itself is crystal clear on this point:
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works. so that no one can boast. 10. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to dogood works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” EPHESIANS 2:8-10
These verses teach us that works have nothing to do with the means or cause of genuine salvation. Genuine salvation is by God’s Grace But good works are a inevitable RESULT of genuine salvation
Dispite this being clear in scripture, Satan has made this a controversy since the fall and even more so since the time of Jesus. This is why it was so necessary for the apostle Paul to write both the book of Romans and the book of Galatians.
I am sure you’ve seen me do “the courtroom of eternity” which is an illustration of justification by faith alone. This was the problem that Martin Luther had until he understood what Romans taught about justification.
The vital question is: “Are we justified (declared righteous) by what we do or by what God has done ?”
There can be no compromise here. We can only be saved by what God has done. Jesus lived a perfect life on earth for 33 1/2 years and the righteousness of this perfect life is credited to our account.
(This is also the basis of “substitutionary atonement”).
Since we are saved based on what Jesus has done, nothing that we do or don’t do can change the perfect record of Jesus credited to our account.
God has therefore preserved our salvation, and only for this reason are we “eternally secure”.
Unless this book is saying this I recommend that you forget about it.
The Protestant Reformation of the 16th century produced five Latin phrases, known as “the solas” that summarized the Reformers’ main Christian teachings:
• Sola scriptura: “Scripture alone”
• Solus Christus: “Christ alone”
• Sola fide: “Faith alone”
• Sola gratia: “Grace alone”
• Soli Deo gloria: “Glory to God alone”

]]>Worldviews International is a non-profit ministry based in Miami, Florida, but with worldwide outreach. Established as a means of extending and embodying the ministry of Dave and Pauline Seivright, Worldviews International has as its chief end the emphasizing of the gospel of Jesus Christ as “objective truth” and the God of the Bible as “ultimate reality” and therefore as culturally relevant and personally life-changing in every culture, nation, race, and era.
Prior to Christian ministry, Dave was a partner of a prestigious law firm in Jamaica followed by post graduate studies in Switzerland and England and a master’s degree from Westminster Theological Seminary, USA. He is also an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). Now, our ministry is primarily based in Miami and Germany – but it extends to the Caribbean, other parts of the USA, and worldwide.
Most basic to our Mission is the Great Commission: “Go and make disciples of all nations, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
Dave had the privilege of being personally mentored by the late Dr. Francis Schaeffer, and also by Dr. J. I. Packer. Dave was also mentored by the teachings and writings and times of personal interaction with the late Dr. John Stott. Dave and Pauline have worked for over 30 years with Cru, founded by late Dr. Bill Bright. We attempt to pass on the things we learned from these great men of God.

Dave and Pauline teach young professionals and business men and women, and others, to lovingly engage in apologetics and evangelism by “making disciples” growing them in the faith, and by teaching them how to also make disciples – WIN-BUILD-SEND (Matthew 28:18-20)
Our Goal is “spiritual multiplication” to equip Christian leaders to also make disciples (2 Timothy 2:2), and carry on this ministry long after we go to be with the Lord. (
We also believe in the “Cultural Mandate” given to us by God (Genesis 1:28) to apply the Christian Worldview in all spheres of life, beyond the walls of the church, by being “salt and light” to our culture and the world.
Many of those whom we have already discipled are now active in fruitful ministries varying from being teaching and group leaders in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) to running an orphanage in Haiti, to taking a stand against the violation of Biblical moral absolutes in our laws and culture.

“Whether we realize it or not, all of us possess a worldview. We make one of two basic assumptions. We view the universe as an accident or we assume an intelligence beyond the universe who gives the universe order, and for some of us, meaning to life. One’s worldview, or how one answers the basic questions concerning meaning, values, purpose, identity, motivation and destiny, influences not only who we are, but how we live our lives” – Dr. Armand Nicholi, Harvard University professor and author of “The Question of God”.
“Know the truth and the truth shall set you free” – Jesus Christ.
“The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is intellectually credible and existentially satisfying” – Tim Keller.

Our mission is to engage in evangelism and discipleship and in particular to foster “spiritual multiplication” by equipping Christian leaders to make disciples (2 Timothy 2:2) of Jesus Christ.
To influence Christians everywhere to surrender themselves to the Lordship of Christ and to apply the Christian Worldview to all of life – not only to the home, the family, and the church, but also to cultural and political issues, so that God will be glorified as His WILL may increasingly be done on earth as it is in heaven.
We also actively encourage believers to be involved in “the Cultural Mandate” (Gen. 1:28), acting as “salt and light” to apply the Christian Worldview to all of life.

]]>The post Caitlyn Jenner and the Transgender Issue appeared first on Dave and Pauline - Worldviews International.
]]>I enjoyed watching the Netflix documentary “Untold: Caitlyn Jenner”. Bruce/Caitlyn has had an interesting and remarkable life even without the transgender issue. I feel sorry for him; he became the “best athlete in the world” yet, like so many of us, he found that success was “empty” and did not fill the void!
In his self-centered quest for identity, he has left behind three ex-wives and several children, all who have been severely hurt and damaged by him. He rationalizes, at the end, that he has been a good parent and hopes that God will be pleased with him. He now considers himself a fiscal, conservative, and a social liberal.
He obviously knows there’s a God and deep down he knows right from wrong. He even seems to realize that God will clearly hold him responsible for his choices.
See: Romans 1:18-20:
“18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”
Let us pray, for him that he will find his true identity in Christ through repentance and faith. Only through a personal relationship with Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit can he die to self and truly love and serve others for the glory of God. The paradox of Christianity is that true fulfillment only comes when we find our identity in Christ; only then can we also truly love others and treat them as more important than ourselves.
“No matter if the gender distortion has a genetic, hormonal, physiological, psychological, or spiritual cause, it can be overcome and healed through faith in Christ and continued reliance on the power of the Holy Spirit. Healing can be received, sin can be overcome, and lives can be changed through the salvation that Jesus provides, even if there are biological/physiological factors. The Corinthian believers are an example of such a change: “And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God” (1 Corinthians 6:11). There is hope for everyone, transsexuals, transgenders, those with gender identity disorder, and transvestites included, because of God’s forgiveness available in Jesus Christ.”

]]>I want you to know that God loves you unconditionally, and so do I.
I am pleased to see God beginning to do a work in your heart, which will bring about permanent change, to gradually conform you to be more like Jesus (especially in the way that you love and serve others, See Romans 8:29). Only a change from the heart can effect permanent change from the inside out. There are many “good” people who keep God’s moral code (the 10 Commandments) yet the commandment against “coveting” shows that God looks at the heart, even our thoughts. To lust is fornication or adultery, to list for things is theft, to hate is to murder. Jesus makes this clear in the New Testament (Read Matthew 5).
Read carefully: Romans 12:1-2 —
“I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of god, to surrender your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to god, which is your spiritual worship. do not be conformed to this, but be transformed [by god himself] by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you he may discern what is his good and acceptable and perfect will for you”.
NOTE:
1. Only God Himself can change you; You cannot change your heart; notice the passive tenses in this passage; the only thing that you have to do is to “surrender” to Him.
2. Saving faith and Repentance are a gift from God, it is not something that you do. They are two sides of the same coin. The words “faith” and “repentance” are used interchangeably in Scripture, particularly in the book of Acts.
3. Surrender (involving faith & repentance) is turning away from self and turning towards God — you must “look God in the eyes”. See:
“He came to his own, [the Jews] and his own people did not receive him. but to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of god, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of god.” John 1:11-13.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God —not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
SCRIPTURE STATES IMPORTANT THINGS ABOUT FAITH & REPENTANCE:
1. It is a gift from God. It is not something that you can simply decide to do yourself. (“the just shall life by FAITH” Romans 1:17)
2. Faith grows through a very intense and mature intimate personal relationship with Christ. God will give you such a relationship and become your “Abba” as you continue to surrender to Him. (Please Read the entire chapter of Romans 8).
3. A person without an intimate personal relationship with Christ cannot assume that he/she is a Christian who has been “born again” (John 3) or that they are going to heaven. Saving faith and repentance are two sides of the same coin. Jesus says that HE is the vine and HE IS THE ONLY ONE TO PRODUCE FRUIT (INCLUDING THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT – He adds that those branches which do not produce fruit (including spiritual fruit) will be cut off and thrown into the fire. (See “The Parable of the Vine” John 15:1-7)

]]>Dear Beloved Family,
We are an exceptionally blessed family and this gives me thankfulness, joy and peace.
Everybody has to die someday, including me. Please remember when I die, that I love each and every one of you in a special way, and I pray regularly for each of you. However I have no desire to die in the near future as I believe that God has a lot of ministry for me to do before I go to heaven, The Bible says that the day of my death is appointed by God. The Apostle Paul said:
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now, a crown is being held for me — a crown for being right with God. The Lord, the judge who judges rightly, will give the crown to me on that day — not only to me but to all those who have waited with love for him to come again.” (2 Timothy 4:5-8)
I am convinced that God does not want me to die until I have finished the very important ministry that He has left for me to do. So, like the apostle Paul, I press on to finish the race that HE has pre-determined for me to complete.
On a personal note, I look forward to seeing David and Ruth, my loving parents. But I am still passionately in love with Pauline, my wife, whom I do not wish to be ”left behind”. It would be great is we both go to heaven together to be with Jesus at the same time. However, I digress – that is His business.
I am blessed with an exceptional family, I love each of you in a unique and special way. Pauline and I particularly thank God for each of our grandchildren. Each grandchild is so special, and loved unconditionally by us. What a blessing! It is my hope that all my family and dear friends will come to have a personal relationship with Jesus and that we all will be able to be reunited with Jesus in heaven. He Is awesome. My favorite worship hymns include “Hallelujah, what a Savior” and ”How Great Thou Art”. The greatest reward of heaven is not only having a face-to-face eternal relationship with Jesus, but also with all those friends and family who also have a personal relationship with Him, through His death and resurrection. Material blessings are temporary, but relationships can be eternal.
We may have “troubles” now, but if we know Jesus personally, we should dance, and party, and worship Him, as each day brings us closer to Our Lord’s return. We happily look forward to His coming when all things will be set right by Him and put under His feet. However, regardless of what we believe about the 2nd coming of Christ, we know from Biblical prophecy that life for some will involve some terrible events, including a 3rd World War (Armageddon) and the terrible persecution of all genuine believers who are alive at that time.
”Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.” (Read carefully Ephesians 6:10-13).
One of my requests of you is that you please take time to carefully listen. Listen for that still small voice of God speaking to you. Read the Gospel of John and the Letter to the Romans; God has given me the wisdom to understand from His Word, some of what is going on in the world. With age comes more wisdom. If you ever need help or advice from me, I would be delighted to help you, if I am able.
So don’t worry or be concerned about anything, instead pray about everything. Let us all enjoy one another during the months or years that we have left together on this beautiful planet created by God for our enjoyment.
Love, Dave

]]>I AM GRACIOUSLY BLESSED THAT MOST OF THE GREAT MEN OF GOD WHO MENTORED ME, AUTHORED ”THE LAUSANNE COVENANT”, WITH WHICH I WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE.
Liberation theology has long been a tradition in Central and South America, especially in the Roman Catholic Church. In the USA, Black liberation theology is essentially the same thing, and it is also Marxist.
Jeremiah Wright, longtime pastor of former President Barack Obama, was a proud proponent of Marxist Black liberation theology. Never once did I see President Obama publicity disassociate himself from these obnoxious beliefs of his close friend Jeremiah Wright. I was sickened to see Wright proudly and angrily expouse his Marxist views as being Christian, over and over again. Wright was even an apologist for the attack on New York on 9/11. Wright’s now famous phrase: “The chickens have come home to roost” was the language that he used to approve of this evil monstrous event of 9/11.
Black liberation theology is the polar opposite of the theology of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who was supported by JFK. Both MLK and JFK are heroes of mine. I supported them politically.
Unfortunately today’s Democrats would be unrecognizable to MLK or JFK. Democrats of the 60s must all be “turning in their graves” to listen to any of the Democrats of today, who have all now signed an evil immoral “manifesto” which in effect has excluded God — as they have enthusiastically embraced the murder of the unborn, gender confusion, homosexual marriage, and even “mob rule” — instead of supporting the heroes of our police force and first responders, who risk their lives for our safety every day (other than a small minority of very bad cops).
I am fervently praying WITH LOVE for some leaders of the evangelical church, whom I believe may possibly have lost their way. Please keep them in daily prayer — that God will bring them back to clearly revealed Biblical principles.

]]>My Faith is based on the extremely clear words and teachings of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Bible. There is no compromise and there is no room for interpretation if the well established Cannons of Interpretation are followed.
Fortunately I learned the Cannons (rules) of interpretation as a lawyer long before I became a theologian. I do not envy anyone who would like to argue the clear teaching of the Bible with God. Jesus said: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”(Matthew 5:17)
I am proud and unashamed to be a Bible believing evangelical Christian. That is why I am no longer a member of the Anglican/Episcopal church or the liberal branches of the Presbytiarian Church (PCUSA) or other mainline denominations who approve of abominations Such as abortion, gender choice, and homosexual marriage, which are clearly condemned in Scripture.
I am an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA) which is Bible believing, evangelical, and conservative. It is opposed to liberal Presbyterian, Metodist, Lutheran, and another liberal main line denominations which have adopted the teachings of atheistic modern culture
My mentor and professor Dr. J I Packer left the Anglican/Episcopal church because it condoned the ordination of practicing homosexual priests. Scripture teaches from cover to cover that unless they repent and except Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior they will be thrown into the lake of fire with Satan and his angels.
Ultimately it doesn’t really matter whether politically you are Republican or Democrat, far left or far right or somewhere in between.
Jesus makes it clear that we must keep our eyes on HIM and not on other people, religion, traditions, or man made church dogma. He is the only one that can be the judge of human hearts.
The bottom line is that human politics is ultimately irrelevant to reality. The only ultimate reality is Jesus himself not a philosophy or an agenda or belief system, but a person.
As Jesus said “I am THE way THE truth and THE life no one comes to the father but by ME… anyone who does not know me does not know the father who is in heaven”. There is no doubt or ambiguity about the ”exclusivity” of Jesus’ claims. He is the ONLY way to God.
HE IS EITHER LIAR, LUNATIC, OR LORD: As C.S.Lewis so eloquently put it: ”A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice.”
Some of the most important verses in the New Testament which sum up what genuine authentic Christianity and salvation is, are set out below:
Salvation is a free gift of God, but It is not effective as a gift unless it is received. SAVING FAITH is stretching out your hand and receiving Christ as your personal Savior and Lord.
See John 1:12-13:(John speaking about Jesus): “Yet to all who did RECEIVE HIM, to those who believed in HIS name, He gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.”
NOW PLEASE EXAMINE JOHN CHAPTER 3:
John3: 3-6:
“Jesus replied, Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born! Jesus answered, Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit”
John 3:16-21
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.”
Ephesians 2:8-9:
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith— and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by anything you do, so that no one can boast.”
Romans 6:23:
“For the wages of sin is death, but the FREE gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
I am proud and unashamed to be a Bible believing evangelical Christian. That is why I no longer attend the Anglican/Episcopal church or the liberal branches of the Presbytiarian Church (PCUSA) or other main line denominations who approve of all of the abominations Including abortion and homosexual marriage which are clearly condemned in Scripture.
I am an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA) which is Bible believing, evangelical, Denomination. We are opposed to liberal Presbyterian, Metodist, Lutheran, and another liberal main line denominations which have adopted the teachings of atheistic modern culture. I am Personally equally opposed to the Democrat Party platform which promotes abortion, gender choice, and homosexual marriage. In the midst of this deadly COVID-19 pandemic, do you ever think about the ultimate questions of reality and eternity, such as origin, meaning, morality, and destiny?
I would be happy to recommend churches of different denominations to you at any time. My mentor and professor Dr. J I Packer left the Anglican/Episcopal church because it condoned the ordination of practicing homosexual priests.
As I have often said before all civilized people should be able to love one another and still agree to disagree, but I do not recommend that you disagree with God.
Yes, the Protestant Reformation was about a return to the Bible, and I am proud to be a “Jesus follower” and a “Bible Thumper.”
You have to choose whether you believe the clear words of Jesus and the Bible, or you can choose to believe your own ideas and your own beliefs based on your own finite limited human brain.
IF YOUR ULTIMATE ALLEGIANCE IS TO A POLITICAL PARTY OR NON-CHRISTIAN BELIEF SYSTEM YOU ARE FOREVER LOST UNLESS YOU REPENT AND SURRENDER YOUR LIFE TO OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.
Such arrogance and pride is found in Genesis with Adam and Eve who thought they knew more than God, they wanted to be god (Please read Genesis chapters 1-3). Even before that Satan was thrown out of heaven because he wanted to be God (See Isaiah 14:12-14).
It is the default mode of all fallen creatures (human or angelic beings) because of their ego and their sinfulness that each such person/being wants to be his own God with his own ideas and beliefs — and he does not wish anyone to tell him want to do or what to believe. If you are a student of philosophy, you will see the same pattern repeated in the time of the enlightenment (17th to 19th centuries).
Once God is rejected by man, we also see the the rise of Marxism (which is the Basis of the present Black Lives Matter movement) and Communism, as well as right-wing authoritarian man centered regimes such as Nazism and Faschism. In the 20th century the rejection of God by such ideologies and regimes led to the slaughter of hundreds of millions of people worldwide.
Scripture teaches from cover to cover that unless they repent and except Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior they will be thrown into the lake of fire with Satan and his angels.
May God bless you as we continue to pray and dialogue, in love, about the above very important issues.
Love, Dave

]]>“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
“Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus *said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’” (John 3:3-7 LSB)
”9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who submit to or perform homosexual acts, 10nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. 11And that is what some of you were! But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)
”16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17For the flesh craves what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are opposed to each other, so that you do not do what you want. 18But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
”19The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; 20idolatry and sorcery; hatred, discord, jealousy, and rage; rivalries, divisions, factions, 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
”22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
”24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25Since we live by the Spirit, let us walk in step with the Spirit. (Galatians 5:16-25)
