TODAY a friend asked me for an update on my family and ministry. Here is what I texted him, with minor edits:

Rachel is a doctor and is married to Laurence who is a chiropractor here in Miami. They are expecting their first child, Madeline very soon. Davey and Lisa and their family live in Jamaica. His eldest daughter, Justine, is just finishing up at UM this year. His 2nd daughter Casey is at Penn but doing a semester abroad in South Africa. His youngest son, Mac, goes to high school in Jamaica and is a good athlete. The whole family is there in SA for vacation. Taylor, Nicola’s eldest, just graduated from Harvard, Schaeffer is at Cal Tech, and Ransom is at Washington & Lee. Nicola got her law degree. She is doing well. Pauline still works at UM law school. Roger and Stanja live in the Bahamas, with two little girls Madison and Tabitha. He is Managing Director of the Sandals hotel chain.

“We feel very blessed, and I enjoy our Miami ministry – discipling the younger men in particular. We teach summer studies every year, particularly on apologetics. Most of the men and women are also very involved with BSF, many in leadership. We do a men’s cruise retreat each year to the Bahamas and visit Roger who has a nice boat and lives right on the water. I have a small boat and still also enjoy boating here in Miami. The women also did a retreat last year. My highlight this year was a trip to Israel where I baptized in the Jordan, Yan’s sister Rinat. Yan is our Russian-Israeli “adopted” son. He is now a successful accountant.

The German ministry is also doing well, growing slowly in numbers because I am not there to help with evangelism. However, they do a weekly Bible study and we got them into a great new church associated with Redeemer Presbyterian Church of New York, so they are growing spiritually. Together with the ministry leaders from Miami, I do a retreat in the Austrian Alps each year for them and will go again this October.”

Please continue to pray for our family and our ministry.
