Our visit to St. Andrews Presbyterian Kirk

We leave today taking 38 people (men and women) to the Bahamas. Roger, our son, has invited all of us to church in Nassau on Sunday. After worshipping at the historic St. Andrews Kirk downtown Nassau, Roger and Stanja will host 24 at their home for lunch, other members of our group have the opportunity to visit Sandals Royal Bahamian to enjoy all-inclusive 5 star luxury for a few hours.

St. Andrews Presbyterian Kirk was founded by fifty-five Scottish Presbyterian settlers in 1798, as the St. Andrews Society. In August 7, 1810 the foundation stone of the Kirk was laid, while in 1842 a Session room was added to the Kirk. In 1872 it started mission School in Bin Town. In 1890s the manse was begun to be built. The boys brigade in Nassau was started in Kirk in the 1909. It adheres to the Westminster Confession of Faith, Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed and has several house fellowships. For several years it was affiliated with the Church of Scotland, but in 2009 conversation with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church begun, and is now affiliated with the EPC.

Our Guest Speaker for our Cruise Retreat will be Prof. Jerram Barrs, formerly on staff for many years with Francis Schaeffer at L’Abri in Europe, where we got to know him in 1977. He is now the founder and resident scholar of the Francis Schaeffer Institute of Covenant Theological Seminary where he teaches apologetics and the effect of Christianity on culture. He is an eminent author and speaker worldwide, and has spoken at our retreats many times in past years.
