This guy who made this video read the same history books that I did. I also had the privilege of growing up British in a British Colony!
However, he omits one important point, which I learned from Francis Schaeffer. The reason that the British spread democracy was primarily because of its Protestant roots dating back as far as Henry VIII, and the religious toleration granted to Roman Catholics by Elisabeth I, also a Protestant, who defeated the Spanish in 1588. Spain never recovered from this Battle. If it had, what is now the USA would undoubtedly have become a colony of Spain, resulting in the disaterous succession of dictators and the failures of democracy that history has shown us across South and Central America. Unlike Roman Catholicism, which believed in “the divine right of kings'” the Protestant reformation stressed “the priesthood of all believers” and adopted the Biblical concept that all men are created equal by God with certain inalienable rights.
This is why no former protestant country has ever become communist or become a dictatorship. The only arguable exception to this rule is Germany. But anyone who knows Germany and the history of Germany, knows that Germany has never been fully Protestant, and even worse than that, Germany is the father of “liberal theology” which rejected the Bible more than 100 years before Hitler.
As the USA and other western countries now continue on the same secular path, dictatorship is inevitable. Dictatorship followed the secular French revolution in the person of Napoleon, in Germany we saw Hitler, and the worst dictators and greatest murderers of all time where the secular dictatorships of the USSR under Joseph Stalin, and China under Chairman Mao.
