How Did I come To Embrace the Christian Worldview? By Dave Seivright

I was once a liberal progressive myself, so I understand them, I love them, and I pray for them. Like them I thought that human reason and man himself is the center of the universe. But in 1972 I had a personal encounter with the risen Jesus Christ who is still alive. I began to realize that human reason is limited, that God is the center of the universe and that genuine love, forgiveness, joy, peace and truth can only come from God himself.

As Jesus Himself said “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” He also said “…know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

No one can come to know Christ unless He reveals Himself to them. Yet he offers Himself to everyone. Those that receive Him and surrender themselves to Him by faith, not only come to know Him personally but experience their eyes and their ears being opened. I still do not know very much, as I am still limited and always will be, and I am still often wrong, but every day that I spend with him is a learning experience.

Why Is a Worldview Important?

“Whether we realize it or not, all of us possess a worldview. We make one of two basic assumptions. We view the universe as an accident or we assume an intelligence beyond the universe who gives the universe order, and for some of us, meaning to life. One’s worldview, or how one answers the basic questions concerning meaning, values, purpose, identity, motivation and destiny, influences not only who we are, but how we live our lives” – Dr. Armand Nicholi, Harvard University professor and author of “The Question of God”.
